This prototype serves as my entry into Winter Visual Novel Jam 2023. It'll be my debut project built with GDevelop 5.

About the Game

Embark on a mysterious train ride in 'Farewell to Midnight,' a visual novel where every choice you make unravels the story of an unnamed protagonist. Engage with an enigmatic seatmate and chart a course through a web of secrets in this nocturnal encounter before the last stop.

Story

Inspired by true events, our protagonist finds themselves seated across from a stranger in the train, whose allure lies as much in her mystery as it does in her conversation. As time stretches into a canvas for reflection and discovery, fleeting moments converge into life-altering revelations.

'Farewell to Midnight' is an introspective slice of life that invites players to explore not just the corridors of an ever-moving train but also the depths of their own aspirations and the courage it takes to move forward.

Characters

Meet Ethan Parker, a 32-year-old registered nurse working in the ER department of a bustling Manhattan hospital. Born and raised in the energetic heart of New York City, Ethan has always been drawn to the arts, finding his creative outlet through photography. Between saving lives and navigating the chaos of emergency medicine, he captures the city's soul with his camera—its architecture, its people, and the untold stories that unfold on its streets.

Olivia Marshall is a dynamic and accomplished digital marketing consultant based in Boulder, Colorado. At 29 years old, she embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship with her successful home-based business. Olivia has a creative and personable demeanor that shines through in her ability to simplify complex marketing strategies for her clients and as a popular speaker at conferences.
